DIGITAL YARDtm

Engineering a New Jamaicatm

BACKGROUND & VALUE PROPOSITION

Digital Yard was founded in 2010, inspired  by Erica Simmons in collaboration with members of the Jamaican secondary school alumni movement based in New York City.

Through her relationships with Siemens, the global technology giant, Erica has facilitated the grant of Siemens CAD/CAM/CAE software valued at over US$150M to Northern Caribbean University and UTECH in Jamaica. This represents by far the largest ever donation to Jamaica's education system.

Digital Yard was formed to execute the vision of migrating proficiency in Siemens' cutting edge software solutions throughout the secondary school system in an active applications environment.  Collaboration  and knowledge transfer between the tertiary and secondary school systems, utilizing the common Siemens software platforms, is the cornerstone of the Digital Yard development strategy.

We expect that when successful, Digital Yard will contribute significantly in enabling a vastly increased number of students pursuing careers in science, technology, engineering and mathematics...thereby helping to achieve national development goals under Vision 2030.
